Definition of an Unaccompanied Minor: An Unaccompanied Minor is a child aged 5-11 years old travelling without the supervision of a parent or guardian who is 16 years or older.
Children under the age of 5 years old are not accepted for the Unaccompanied Minors service.
A Young Passenger is classified as a child who is between the ages of 12 and 16 years old.
For the purpose of fares, any traveller between the ages of 12-16 is considered an adult; therefore, no special handling is required unless requested by the parent.
Reservations for Unaccompanied Minors cannot be booked online, so please contact your local SAA office. Place any meal requests for your child at time of booking, or at least 24-hours before departure.
Inform us of any critical information such as the date of birth, language of the child if he or she cannot speak English, if they are a first-time flyer, or need medication, etc. Some children might need to be cleared by our medical reservations office.
