The maiden flight from Gatwick Airport to Newark International Airport took place on 22 June 1984.

But, after the 24-hour window frame, a cancellation fee will be imposed on both refundable and non-refundable fares. For cancellation of flights originating from the US and Canada, 50$ will be charged as a cancellation fee. However, if the non-refundable fare is cancelled after 24 hours of purchase, then the whole ticket amount will be forfeited as cancellation charges.
The airlines do not impose any cancellation charges on cheap award tickets. If passengers with Flying club membership wish to cancel their tickets, then the airlines need to be informed about the cancellation minimum of 24 hours before flight departure.
If the passenger cancels the flight due to illness, then the airlines may waive off the cancellation charges based on the doctor’s consultation provided.
Virgin Atlantic Airways Un-Accompanied Minor Policy
The parent/guardian of the unaccompanied minor must stay at the airport until the child’s flight has departed.
Children under 5 must always travel with someone aged 18 or over – Virgin Atlantic can’t fly them on their own.
Virgin Atlantic also regard children aged 5 to 18 as unaccompanied minors if their parents or guardians are travelling on the same flight, but in a different cabin. This is because Virgin Atlantic crew will be responsible for them in the event of an emergency or the seatbelt signs are switched on, as you won’t be able to attend to them.
If you’re travelling in Upper Class separately from your children they aren’t permitted to visit you, but you are of course free to come and check on them.
If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or her safety.
